Inflation is ravaging Tennesseans’ spending power. We need a state senator who will stop crowing about how fair Tennessee’s regressive tax structure is (it’s not) and who will work to level the field for those who struggle to make ends meet. We need a minimum wage that will not just pay the bills, but that will help people get ahead.
Every time grocery prices go up, your tax burden goes up. It’s a double whammy that the GOP supermajority ignores and hopes you will too. Tennessee’s so-called right-to-work and at-will employment laws hamper workers’ ability to organize and negotiate pay and benefits. While the governor runs ads in other states touting Tennessee as favorable to business, he wants us to believe that giving big business tax breaks will bring good-paying jobs to the state. What we need now is for the companies that are already here to pay good wages.
