Protect Public Schools

It’s no secret that the GOP supermajority is set to destroy public education in Tennessee.  Our children need to be protected from predatory special interests that work hard to hoard wealth for themselves. Our schools need to be shielded from people who fleece taxpayers to subsidize high-dollar private schools.  Education is a right enshrined in the Tennessee constitution.  I will stand firmly against any program that siphons public money away from public schools.  I will stand firmly against all attempts to water down teacher education and standards.  I will work closely with Wilson County’s school leaders to ensure that state policies align with the realities of teaching children whose needs are diverse.  From ensuring the state raises the level of public school funding to streamlining oversight burdens, I will  be a champion for public school students.
